First off i didnt write this story StealthSpartan3 did. smgdude3.proboards43.com Halo: The Forerunners Chapter 1 Master Chief woke up with extreme persuasion as the crash was heard throughout In Amber Clad’s mess hall. The giant ship was hit with Covenant Plasma bolts. The bolts most likely came from a Covenant Capitol Ship. Captain Miranda Keyes barked orders to her crew. “Andersen, load up the MAC gun. Barker, plot us a new course,” said Keyes. In unison, they both replied, “Aye, ma’am.”
The Capitol ship swooped down towards them and fired off some Plasma Bolts. In Amber Clad evaded the shots swiftly, and fired off a Scorpion tank shot. The 50-mm cannons were able to down Covenant Banshees in a single shot, along with Ghosts. With all the strength it had, it stood no chance at even laying a single scratch on the Capitol ship. “MAC guns at 80% and rising, ma’am. 90. it’s charged,” said Andersen. Keyes, plotting a position that they wouldn’t have a chance of missing the Capitol ship, finally found a small spot, and barked the order at Andersen, “Fire!”
The shot fired off from In Amber Clad, it flew through space directly towards the Capitol ship. The Capitol ship, having extreme reflexes, dodged the round and fired many Plasma Bolts at In Amber Clad. The ship, obviously growing in rage, sent out a Phantom to drop Covenant troops into In Amber Clad. The Phantom looked purple like most Covenant owned property, with weak plasma guns attached to the front, and both sides. It was fast, strong, and durable. The Phantom arrived at In Amber Clad moments later, and after finding an open spot to drop troops INTO the ship, let them out. Among the enemies were about one hundred Grunts, twenty Jackals, fifty Elites, and even a Hunter, one of the toughest Covenant troops he has ever faced. Cortana had the picture on screen, and Master Chief was watching. He knew immediately this was THEIR ship and HE had to fight these enemies along with the help of Sergeant Johnson and approximately one hundred Marines. Realizing this fight would cause a lot of trouble and needed a lot of strategic; he downloaded Cortana into his helmet, and then went on the biggest wild duck chase of his life. He knew in the back of his mind he might die, but deep down Master Chief has a feeling he wouldn’t. Him and his group of Marines followed the path the motion tracker on Master Chief’s HUD, or Heads up Display, and in about two minutes were standing behind a wall peering out at the unexpecting Covenant forces. They were talking in a language he had never heard before, so Cortana changed made it so he could hear it in English. So, they were plotting a way to get into the ship without being seen, Master Chief thought, over my dead body. He tried to think of a quick strategy that would work efficiently to eliminate as many enemies as possible. He reached into his grenade pouch, picked out a fragmentation grenade, pulled the pin, and then tossed the grenade right into the middle of the pack. The grenade did amazing damage, killing about fifty total enemies, including ten Jackals and five Elites. He had narrowed the amount of enemies greatly, but he thought in the back of his head, “that doesn’t matter; I still have a Hunter here.” So he now knew that the Covenant troops know his location, and he had no gun. He had two options. His first option was to make a run through all the troops and try to grab a Plasma Pistol or Rifle from one of the dead bodies. That second option was to wait for them to come, punch them to death, and steal that weapon. He chose option two, simpler and safer. He wouldn’t put his life at risk and give up In Amber Clad that easily. The Grunt approached first, they waited for the Elites to get their flanks, and then the Hunter followed. They arrived at the door, and the first enemy came in. Master Chief caught him by surprise from a new hiding place and killed him. No enemies followed until after he picked up the Plasma Pistol. The Plasma Pistol has been improved upon since the since time he used it. It shot much powerful shots and faster shots. He learned this due to the fact that he had killed about ten enemies by now. Among that total was seven Elites. He had eliminated many of the Elites now, and the enemies were becoming less and less of a threat. Several Marines had been hit by the time he got all the Elites dead. Some of the Marines had died, but luckily Sergeant Johnson had been standing there with his Battle Rifle taking out Covenant Grunts. Master Chief took the Jackals, while the Hunter waited to come in and sweep up the rest of the Marines and the Master Chief. Master Chief had taken out all but ten Jackals by now, so they huddled together in hope that it would help them. So, realizing they were huddled together, Master Chief threw a fragmentation grenade under their shields, it went behind them, and before they could escape from its path, it exploded and killed them all. So, Master Chief decided to help out Johnson and the Marines with the grunts. There were about fifty left now, a piece of cake. Master Chief barked an order at the Marines and Sergeant. “Marines, out of the way, I’m going to plant a grenade behind them and try to kill them all,” Master Chief said. “Aye, Chief,” replied Johnson. He ordered his men to retreat to another area safe from the grenade blast.

Master Chief went up behind the unsuspecting Grunts and pulled the pin on a fragmentation grenade, then tossed it inches behind the Grunts. Seconds later, once Master Chief had gotten to a safe place, the grenade exploded and killed all but a single Grunt, so Master Chief went up to him and fired his Plasma Pistol at the grunt. The Grunt fell, now leaving a single enemy that would be their hardest enemy, the Hunter.
The hunter ran into the hall after he started to not hearing any gunfire. The Hunter shot his deadly Fuel Rod Cannon at Master Chief, who dodged the shot. Master Chief fired his Plasma Pistol at the Hunter, but its huge alloy shield and armored skin had blocked the shots. Master Chief kept shooting until he ran out of battery for his Plasma Pistol. Realizing that he wouldn’t do any damage with grenades, Master Chief retreated to find another gun. On top of a dead Marine was a Sub Machine Gun, also called an SMG. He picked up the SMG and decided that it was the best he could use. He then came back out to confront the Hunter.
Where are my teammates? Master Chief thought. He knew it would take a lot of time to take out a Hunter by himself. He really needed those Marines this time.
Finally, he found a way around the Hunter. He had to get close to the hunter, let it take a swing at him with its shield, then strafe and turn. He could get a view of the Hunter’s back, containing an orange flesh area, which seemed to be the Hunter’s weak spot. Knowing this, Master Chief started to use this strategy more often. He got several shots in on the Hunter’s flesh, and blood started flying out from it.
Master Chief kept up his shooting, and finally, he hit the Hunter so many times that it fell lifelessly to the ground.
The Marines along with Sergeant Johnson arrived wounded in front of Master Chief. He knew something happened to them, but he didn’t know exactly what it was.
“What happened to you guys?” Master Chief asked curiously.
“Sir, new Covenant troops spotted on the opposite side of the ship. We have Helljumpers holding them off. The Helljumpers will not last very long, because there are about ten Hunters this time. Also, they sent some Grunts with Fuel Rod Guns. This is a tough battle, so they need your help,” said Private Green.
“Affirmative, Private. Cortana, find me the fastest route to the scene of the battle. I need to double time it to this battle. I don’t want any Helljumpers falling to the Covenant,” Master Chief ordered.
Cortana gave him a quick route to the raging battle. The battle was taking place three stories up on In Amber Clad. He had to take the elevator, then travel about a fourth of a mile to get to the battle.
He finally got there, watching a bloody battle between about twenty Helljumpers and two hundred Covenant forces. There were Grunts everywhere, mowing down the Helljumpers with Plasma Pistols. The Elites fired there Carbines, Needlers, and Plasma Rifles into other Helljumpers. Then Jackals also shot at Helljumpers, so the marines decided to come in and help out. Master Chief jolted out and started laying down open fire with his SMG on the Grunts. He had taken down about fifty Grunts after thirty seconds. With this ability, he realized that the humans might take this battle too. He started with the Jackals then, and after every Jackal had been eliminated, he had about forty Elites left. He grabbed a Plasma Rifle to go along with his SMG, and started firing both of them at the Elites. He took out the Elites in twice the time it normally took. Little did Master Chief know, one Elite had lived through his shots and was flanking him, ready to finish Master Chief off.

“Chief, look out, behind you,” Sergeant Johnson barked to Master Chief.
Master Chief turned around just in time to dodge the Elites melee attack. The Elite swiped at Master Chief’s hand, and his guns went flying. So, in return, Master Chief swiped the Elite’s guns out of its hands. They had a fistfight. The Elite knocked down Master Chief with a kick in the stomach, and then when it stepped in front of him he gave him a payback kick. Master Chief punched over and over again at the Elite until it was sitting on the ground. So, he ran over to his guns, picked them up and went back to the Elite. He shot into the Elite’s throat, and it died, blood and bones all over the ground around it.
Oh great, now the Hunters, thought Master Chief. This time he definitely needed his teammates helping him out. He ordered them to distract the Hunter while he went behind them and killed them. The Marines did as ordered and were doing a good job at distracting. Master Chief flanked the Hunters. Then, the show began.
Master Chief reloaded his SMG for longer fire time. He got a good aim on the Hunter’s orange flesh, and fired. After thirty rounds, the first Hunter fell, leaving nine more that were in perfect position for the Chief. He took them all out one-by-one, and after six clips, all the Hunters had been eliminated. Many Marines fell in this process, but In Amber Clad was safe.
The Covenant Capitol ship had retreated, and In Amber Clad had returned to the Cairo Station to dock. Master Chief got out of In Amber Clad weary from that huge battle, but he was also feeling a rush of adrenaline from being in a battle that big and winning it. Somehow, he knew that this battle was not near over. He knew there would be more Covenant troops coming for them, but when was the question he didn’t know. They could come anytime, but Master Chief knew he’d be there to fight them whenever they did come.
Master Chief and a fellow Marine were having a mock fight and Cortana was sitting on a pedestal watching them fight. In seconds Master Chief had the Marine pinned and begging for mercy. Master Chief has never lost in his life. He knew he would never lose. He could win at anything. The Fall of Reach was not his fault; he had no way to get there in time to prevent it.
The Master Chief, feeling hungry, decided to go to Cairo Station’s mess hall to get a bite of food. He took off his helmet when he got to a table containing Sergeant Johnson, Private green, Colonel Renning, and a few Marines. They all froze for a second when he sat down, because they had never seen his face. They went back to their food, which was spinach, chicken, soup, and water. Master Chief ate all his food, returned the platter, and went back to his bunk room.
Master Chief’s bunk was a large room, with a window looking out into space, several Marine posters, and some other things. He went to sleep for the night, getting rest in case something bad happened that needed strength. Cortana, getting bored of watching master Chief sleep, decided to run through files on In Amber Clad’s main computer. She looked through files about Sergeant Johnson, Private Green, and Master Chief. The report about Master Chief stated that he was the best soldier the Marines have ever had, let alone the best soldier the world has ever had. So, she read further, and she found something that confused her extremely. The report said that the Fall of Reach was completely his fault and if he hadn’t retreated, Reach could’ve standed a chance against the Covenant fleet.
Cortana knew that was completely off-target. He hadn’t retreated. Captain Jacob Keyes has decided not to engage because Reach had already fallen almost and the most that would happen is the Pillar of Autumn would also get glassed. Also, she knew they were too far away from the fleet to get a good shot in on them, and either way Reach was going down. Cortana sighed, she couldn’t believe that the information was so off-target. She went back to watching Master Chief sleep, which was extremely boring, but Cortana didn’t want to cause havoc in Cairo, so she just stood there inside Master Chief’s head.
Master Chief, after sleeping for about nine hours, finally woke up with Sergeant Johnson barking in his ears. Today was a day to polish his skills in combat. He had to go to a training course like he usually does, always different. He does a mission, and once he completes it he is done training for the day.
He wondered to himself what will the mission be this time?
He came outside and Sergeant Johnson told him the goal he had to accomplish. He was to go get in a Pelican containing Private Green as a hostage. The Pelican will be guarded by many Marine helpers. Master Chief is allowed to kill them if they act as a threat to him. Master Chief had to get past all the Marine guards, and some even wielded Snipers and Rocket Launchers. He knew this challenge would be harder than most he had done, but it couldn’t measure up to the fight on In Amber Clad.

Master Chief swiftly jogged towards the outside area of Cairo. There were large obstacle courses all around the Cairo and poles sticking up out of the ground. Master Chief didn’t feel right. It was way too warm here. He shrugged off the feeling and continued his journey to get to Johnson. Along the way, he found something incredible. He saw MA5B Assault Rifles, ten of them, lying on the ground in a line.
This struck him as odd because the Humans had eliminated the MA5B as their main weapon. They completely took the MA5B away from the military, in fact. They replaced it with both the M7/Caseless Sub Machine Gun, or SMG, and the BR55 Rifle, or Battle Rifle. Ever since the first battle of Halo, he had never seen a MA5B. It was odd that with the newer guns available someone would still choose the Assault Rifle to bring with them to battle.
Again, he decided to sprint towards Johnson, so he took the short way. It took him another fifteen minutes until he eventually reached Johnson. Johnson told him that somewhere inside a huge facility of the Cairo is a bunch of enemies, along with Green inside a Pelican docked in the facility. The facility was huge, almost a fourth the size of Halo. He knew this mission would definitely be difficult now.
Master Chief entered the large facility. There were paths to every direction known almost, so choosing which one to enter would be tough. There were white panels along the walls, so bright it made you squint for a minute, no matter what you were wearing to protect your eyes. Master Chief looked around, and Sergeant Johnson told Master Chief his orders.
“First, you will have to enter a path that will lead you ninety-nine meters into the facility, and then take a right to the lifeboat. You will travel across a mock sea and fight a group of Marines stationed in front of a Pelican. You will kill them off, and then enter the Pelican. You will fly the Pelican to an open area past a large forest. There, you will be able to see a crashed Pelican. There are Marines guarding the Pelican. THAT is your target. Take out the Marines and get inside the Pelican. There, you will find Private Green being held hostage by a Sniper. Take out the Sniper and return with Private Green to complete your mission,” said Johnson.
“Acknowledged, Sergeant,” replied Master Chief. “But do you think it is a good idea to risk these soldier’s lives, along with mine, sir?”
“Of course it is, Chief. These marines are Ensigns; they haven’t served us well in their lives. They disobey orders. Killing them will NOT shake up the human’s chances against the Covenant.” Sergeant Johnson said.
“Ok, well let’s get started then.”
Keyes floated through Slipspace. Out in Slipspace, it was very hard to maneuver ships. She knew that it was possible that a Covenant support group could come in and throw a picnic. Keyes knew that with her excellent group of soldiers on board, the ship would be able to successfully roll out the welcome mat and give the Covenant a brutal taste of their own medicine.
Secretly, Keyes was regretting every second of being located in Slipspace. But she forced the feeling away and got status reports from her ship’s AI, Titan. Keyes knew that without the modifications to the ship recently made, she wouldn’t even be close to possessing an AI in the ship. But since the ship had been created into a whole new Pillar of Autumn. It was just as large, if not larger, and had basically the same rooms, except with modifications done to them.
A rumble was heard throughout the ship seconds later, which shook Keyes from her thoughts.
“What the hell was that?” Corporal Harlen asked.
“Whatever it was, it’s definitely not friendly!” exclaimed Lieutenant Greslak.
“Yeah, I bet anything it’s those Covenant bastards,” said Corporal Harlen.
The Covenant had a Capitol ship going through Slipspace after In Amber Clad, and this time it seemed they would come up successful in taking her down. Without Master Chief helping out on the ground, the UNSC ship had little chance to win this battle. Yet Keyes knew they would come up successful somehow.
“Marines, get ready to roll out the welcome mat. These Covenant troops are landing here, and they think they’ve been invited. Well they’re wrong, and they need to be told that. Let’s get ready, kill any Covenant forces in your way, and win this battle against the Covenant,” Miranda Keyes said.
Most troops had received an SMG or a Battle Rifle. Some soldiers grabbed Snipers or Shotguns, and one soldier even took a Rocket Launcher. The soldiers marched to the place where the Covenant Capitol ship was most likely to drop off its troops, and they set up a station.
The Phantom was dispatched, most likely full of Covenant troops. They would soon find out what they were in for, as they prepared for the fight of their lives.
Master Chief ran through a hallway to a dead end, containing a Marine. He crouched and went up behind the Marine, who had his back turned to Master Chief. An easy target, and Master Chief whacked the Marine’s head in. The Marine crumbled slowly to the ground, and released his weapon, motionless. Master Chief, who had no weapon to begin with, picked up the Battle Rifle the Marine had dropped. Also, he pulled three grenades out of the Marine’s grenade pouch.
Master Chief moved back and tried another tunnel. This time, he found no sign of Marine movement or for that matter any movement. He tried another few tunnels, and then finally found the correct tunnel. With Cortana not helping by telling whether the tunnel was the right one or not, it was hard to figure out which he should go through.
Master Chief knew this tunnel was right, he knew that this tunnel was going to get him through the mission. He walked through a little farther, and sure enough to the right was a lifeboat, ready to sail across the Marine infested sea. There was even a Rocket Launcher wielding Marine in the sea, so Master Chief, for his own life, sniped out the Marine first with a Battle Rifle he had picked up off of a killed Marine.

Next, Master Chief took out a Sniper in the distance. He sniped the last twenty Marines out, and was running out of ammo on his Battle Rifle. He steered the lifeboat towards the abandoned lifeboat that had the Sniper Rifle wielding Marine in it. He grabbed the rifle off the dead Marine and took three grenades, giving him a full pack of four grenades total. Master Chief continued until he reached the end of the sea, which was a relief, since he was only an iffy sea battler, but ground assault was his specialty. More Marines were grouped way up ahead, and with the Sniper Rifle the master Chief was wielding, he made quick work of them and didn’t even take a single bullet. Sure enough, a Pelican was docked on the ground, open and ready to be taken off into flight. Master Chief wasted no time entering the Pelican. He didn’t want to risk more ammo if Marines came out to see what was going on. The Pelican lifted off. He started soaring it over the forest Sergeant Johnson had been talking about. He saw a good LZ, and in about a fifty meter distance was a crashed Pelican. Master Chief was almost done the mission. He snuck to an area which would emerge from behind the Pelican. He put a silencer on his Sniper, so it made virtually no sound except a small click. He took out the enemies one by one until only one was left. He wanted to run up behind the enemy, whack him over the head, when he felt his shields lower. Cortana said to him, “Chief, something’s wrong with your shield generator, you lost all of it, it won’t let me reboot it. DO NOT get shot. You will die in one hit with any gun now.”
“Acknowledged, Cortana, I will do my best to avoid contact.”
The Master Chief sniped out the last Marine, went up to the Pelican, peered in, and saw his last target. Time to finish this mission, Master Chief thought.
Keyes set the troops up in a new type of formation, all Rocket Launchers were to be wielded right in front of the door, the Snipers behind, then the small weapons hid, and came charging out to take down all the rest of the Covenant. The Covenant troops were stationed outside, getting ready to enter through the door. They saw no threats in the door, so they all ran through, to meet a vicious surprise. The Rockets fired, the Snipers rang, and the Covenant troops returned fire five seconds later with their Plasma Rifles and Pistols, along with Carbines and Needlers. The Marines were going down quickly, but the Rocket Launchers were tearing through the Covenant, and even killed a Hunter. With only a single Hunter left, the Rocket Launchers flared rockets at the last Hunter. After about five, his spikes spot up, and he charged forward at the Marines. He nailed a Marine right in the head with the spikes, tearing the Marine into five dead shredded pieces. The remaining Marines with Rocket Launchers kept firing, and after another Marine was torn up by the Hunter’s spikes, the brutal foe dropped into a puddle of orange blood. There were still plenty of enemies, including a fierce Honor Guard and a Spec-Ops Elite, trained for bloody battles and filled with strength and skill. The Spec-Ops fired at a close-by Marine. The Marine returned fire with an SMG. Another marine joined in with dual Magnums, the weakest guns available to the UNSC. Still, he kept firing and eventually, he got the Spec-Ops Elite pissed off. The Elite yelled out what sounded like its battle cry, yanked out an Energy Sword from nowhere, and charged. The Snipers took aim at the ferocious Elite and fired; the Elite ignored it and kept charging toward his prey.
Master Chief ran up behind the pelican, hunkered his way along towards the opening, and stopped. He heard voices, angry snarling voices. He peeked out from his hiding place and saw a Marine with a Rocket Launcher, one with a Sniper, one with an SMG, and one with a Battle Rifle. He had no grenades, so it was down to two options. Either he could pray they kept looking the other way and try to sneak up behind them, take his hostage back, and run like hell in prayer that the Marines didn’t hear it and an Evac dropship would call in to pick him up. He wished Foehammer were still able to help, but ever since he has destroyed the first of the two Halos, she was never to be found again. His second option was to sneak up behind the Rocket Launcher Marine, melee him to his death quickly, and steal his Launcher, and then kill the rest of the enemies. He chose option two, as it was safer and he knew it would be easier. Master Chief thought over the options a little longer, finally decided he would do it, and got into position to finish this mission.
